Lost Chimes
Wind chimes are one of my favorite sounds. In high school I build a couple sets of chimes for my senior project. In the 15 years since, those chimes have weathered and come down, but I still hold onto them alongside other random metal tubes I've collected in the hopes of making something new. Maybe one day they will hang in the wind again, but for now I can play them with the help of Decent Sampler, a free sample player plugin that works with major DAWs.
A Decent Sampler Instrument
In addition to the straggling chimes, I borrowed 3 other sets totaling 2 octaves of notes from G#3 to G#5. 25 individual chimes, carefully recorded, processed, and compiled into 100 individual samples for a four round robin sample instrument.
Click the links below to hear some samples, but really you should download it and play it for yourself! Try using the “start” knob to change the sample start point and turn it into a smooth pad.
